The façade and interior painting project for Negrita was created to celebrate its 10th anniversary. Inspired by the bar’s Latin American roots and with a touch of Spanish tapas, the design fuses these cultural influences through vibrant shapes, intense colors, and bold typography. The intervention, executed entirely by hand, brings back the tradition of Latin American handcrafted painting, adding authenticity and exclusivity to the space. The entire area, from the façade to the iron doors, was carefully painted to capture attention and reflect the energy of the bar.
Project done in partnership with Cyla Costa Studio.
Negrita has established itself as a local reference in an urban environment where bars are competing to stand out with unique aesthetic proposals. The challenge was to create a visual identity that reflected the cultural roots of the bar while staying fresh and relevant in a digital context. Additionally, the project emphasizes the importance of handmade art, particularly the painting of signs, in contrast to the growing digitalization, aiming to convey the authenticity of the place and its connection to the community through a design that is both visually appealing and emotionally impactful.
The approach taken was to use traditional handcrafted painting techniques to create a vibrant and unique design. Expressive, cut-out shapes were organically integrated into the architecture, ensuring a coherent and memorable visual communication. Over six days of direct intervention, every element of the space was hand-painted, from the façade to the internal features, ensuring a detailed and meticulous job. The typography and vibrant colors successfully merged tradition and modernity, creating an atmosphere that emotionally connected with the Negrita community.
